When Nick DeSantis, Environmental Health & Safety Manager at Ali Industries Inc., (Fairborn, Ohio) first stepped into his role in June 2018, he wasted little time making a positive impact on his 350,000 square-foot facility. DeSantis noticed his 24 loading dock doors were being left open in order to lower temperatures and increase employee comfort. The problem with his open doors was the lack of fall protection which can result in serious injury or a roughly $12,000 fine per dock. Although safety had not been a nagging issue in the past, DeSantis decided he’d rather be proactive instead of responsive. Fall protection critical He immediately began receiving product quotes that were substantially more costly than his budget would allow. DeSantis needed a product that was easy to install and operate, cost-effective, and most importantly, met OSHA standards for fall protection. In other words, everything that encompasses the DUAL CHAIN™. With help from local distributor Angel Galbraith of Miami-Industrial Trucking in (Dayton, Ohio) DeSantis found that spending money on safety and employee comfort was much less expensive than he anticipated. More than just good pricing “Pricing was a big focus in our product research, and DUAL CHAIN was the perfect answer to what we were looking for,” explains DeSantis. “But there were a number of other factors that convinced me about the product as well.” DeSantis is most impressed with the simplicity of the DUAL CHAIN’s installation and use. A crew of two was able to fit installations into their regular workload and install all 24 units in only four days. DeSantis also pointed out how easy it was to tighten the turnbuckles and the product’s unique J-Bolt which keeps the chains off the ground during dock operation. “If we had more loading docks, I wouldn’t think twice about adding more DUAL CHAIN units,” admits DeSantis. “The product is exactly what I was looking for. If cost-effectiveness is important to anyone’s operation and safety standards, I definitely recommend the DUAL CHAIN.” << BACK TO BLOG << PREVIOUS POST NEXT POST >>
